Interviews with Actors Matthew Scott and Katia Taylor

from Indie Horror Film "Have Sex and Die"

Lori:

You're one of the more experienced cast members of this film; do you feel that you had a positive influence on the newer actors?

Matthew:
lol. I hope so. They would be the ones to ask.

Lori:
Would you tell us about some of your experiences as an actor?

Matthew:
I've been doing it “professionally” for 10 years.  Have worked with some amazing people and have had great experiences. Only 1 or 2 sour gigs but they’re not enough to taint the whole experience. Did a bunch of theatre in the early 00’s to “pay my dues” but my main interest has always been acting in feature films. Love doing it and plan to continue acting for the rest of my life.

Lori:
I've read that you're a producer of this film;  was it as rewarding behind the camera as in front?

Matthew:
It was a lot more hard work. I’ve seen the end result and it has been very rewarding. Acting in this film was a lot of fun though as it was pure cheese.

Lori:
Would you tell us a bit about your role in "Have Sex and Die"?

Matthew:
My character is the human form of the evil alien Professor King Hung. Crash landed on earth and forced to take a human form in order to survive.  An evil genius who has devised a way to prolong his existence by taking the life from humans via sexual intercourse.

Lori:
What sort of music does your band "Von Swann" play?

Matthew:
Everything from rock to punk to ballads.  Influence’s range from The Misfits to Del Shannon to The Cramps to the Chilli Peppers.  The band at its current stage is studio based only. I am adopting the Trent Reznor method and recording all instruments myself. Once the album is complete I will get some musicians to tour.

Lori:
How long have you been pursuing the performing arts?

Matthew:
I’ve been making short films since I was 7 years old on my Dad’s Super 8 camera. In my mid/late teens it stopped becoming my main thing after I found other “interests”. When I was 20 I jumped back on board full tilt boogie and went straight to work on an indie feature (The Scum of the Earth), with my brother Chris and pals Matt and Angie Moss. The film was never completed but it served as a great film school. At that time I got an agent and started auditioning for other gigs.

Lori:
Do you see yourself branching off into other areas of filmmaking, special effects for example?

Matthew:
I’ve gotten a bit of work over the years as a writer (and have written most of my own projects). I did music for a few films but have not done that in a while. My main goal has always been acting, but I’m always ready to pick up any role if that will speed the process of getting a project off the ground.

Lori:
After you finish "Have Sex and Die" what will you do next?

Matthew:
I co-wrote and have a supporting role in the film “Million Dollar Mates” starring Keisha Castle Hughes and directed by Chris Herd. I worked on the script for “The Goddess Kali” shooting in Nepal later this year. I co-wrote “Nine Hours to Dawn” being shot in the US next year, directed by Johan Earl. I am also developing two more indie projects to be shot later this year. Fun times! J

Lori:
Is "Have Sex and Die" your first feature film?

Katia:
Yes this was my first feature film i was cast in!

Lori:
What is your role in this film?

Katia:
Such a bizarre character Notasha, I mean she is not human, don’t let the appearance full you! She and Natosha are Professor Hung’s assistants in their evil experiments on humans.

Lori:
Do you have any favorite films from the past, from the 80's or before as an example?

Katia:

Carrie and The Exorcist

Lori:
Which actors do you feel provided the best inspiration to you?

Katia:
Drew Barrymore, Charlize Theron.

Lori:
Do you plan to explore other aspects of the film industry, i.e. directing?

Katia:

One day hopefully can write a screenplay and get to produce, but for now acting is mine main focus.

Lori:
Do you have any film or other acting projects in the works?

Katia:
I’m currently working on a feature called Fatherhood. Not the most light-hearted and up-lifting of scripts. It’s the kind of film that makes you think and question life and its stereotypes and your own values. For me personally, the fact how much I connect with my heroine D.P. is what makes it so much special.

How many of you ghouls can say you have seen a gay zombie movie? Not to many I bet and this one without a doubt pulls no punches. I can honestly say this is the first and only openly gay zombie film I have seen and is without a doubt one of the best in the zombie genre as a whole.
